Don't miss this opportunity to grow your business and contribute to food security and rural development

Transformative opportunities await investors and farmers in St. Catherine and Clarendon. Through this innovative development, previously utilized sugarcane fields are being repurposed to cultivate a diverse array of crops, promising a new era of agricultural prosperity.

SPAD is generously supported by the United Kingdom Caribbean Infrastructure Development Fund (UKCIF) and managed by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB). This initiative is particularly geared towards enhancing the economic stability of small and medium-sized farmers by providing them with essential resources and support.

The Agro-Investment Corporation, operating under the guidance of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Mining, is at the forefront of implementing and managing the distribution of land for this development. Our focus is to significantly boost agricultural output and efficiency in the regions of St. Catherine and Clarendon by modernizing infrastructure—including irrigation, drainage, and roads—and by improving post-harvest handling facilities across 795 hectares of government-owned lands in Amity Hall, Bridge Pen, and Parnassus.

Furthermore, SPAD is committed to fostering sustainable farming practices. Farmers will receive training in climate-smart agriculture and will be supported towards achieving certification in international standards of good agricultural practices.

We are also excited to introduce a Matching Grant Scheme (MGS) that aids small-scale farmers, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds—including women and youth—in investing in on-farm irrigation systems and agri-business development.

Join us in this groundbreaking journey to reshape agriculture in St. Catherine and Clarendon. Together, we can cultivate growth, sustainability, and a thriving agricultural community.
